Apple’s newest smartphone iPhone 5 was unveiled at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday morning (September 12, 2012) and trumps the company's previous phone iPhone 4S in a few crucial areas. A new design is the biggest, most attractive feature of the iPhone 5 compared to the 4S. The phone feels very thin, light and substantially different in the hand. It is 18 percent thinner, 20 percent lighter and 12 percent smaller by volume than the iPhone 4S. The slender new device has a 4-inch Retina display with a resolution of 1,136 x 640 while the former smartphone king boats a 3.5″ IPS display which can produce a 960 x 640 resolution image. Besides, the young upstart iPhone 5 houses a slightly faster A6 processor, which Apple claims is up to twice as fast as the A5 processor found in the iPhone 4S. Another difference can be found between the two smartphones is that the 5 gets a new “Lighting” dock connector that's approximately 80 percent smaller than the previous charger port. Moreover, gorgeous iPhone 5 has an enhanced 8-megapixel camera and a front camera that has FaceTime HD camera with 720p support and FaceTime works over 3G with iOS 6.

The display of the iPhone 5 is indeed noticeably more vibrant than the 4S. The latest iteration of the world's best-selling smartphone will also be sold with EarPods, Apple's latest version of earphones.

The iPhone 5, which measures 7.6mm thick and weighs 112 grams, is taller and thinner than the iPhone 4S. Both Apple’s smartphones offer three different configurations: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with a price of $199, $299, and $399 respectively.

The back of the young upstart is slightly different than that of the iPhone 4S as the aluminum covers much of the back of the iPhone 5 and glass is inlaid above and below the aluminum, looking very sleek.

The gorgeous iPhone 5 is equipped with a main camera staying at 8MP with LED Flash and a 720p front facing camera. It is also powered by Apple's powerful new A6 chip and has longer battery life than its predecessor.
